The Life of a Christian Mystic
God Builds a Bridge to the Unknown
by Russell D. Ward
Christian mystics are surprisingly relevant to modern life. Their message is practical and healing.
Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly. (Proverbs 3:13-14, 18 NLT)
The Christian mystic communicates God’s wisdom to others. The Almighty is the source of all wisdom. It only takes a moment to impact someone FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE! Be ready.

The Road
The disciples accompanied Jesus on a journey to learn how to spread his teachings, despite facing many uncertainties. Christian mystics always have God by their side, and their lives are about to change. They gain the ability to perceive situations and people realistically and interpret outcomes accurately.
Transformational Encounter
The Christian mystic comes down the mountain after a transformational experience with the Living God. Once down from the mountain, The Lord calls the mystic to a new life. Sweeping changes will abound. What mountain is God asking you to climb?
Waiting
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31a TLB).

The Christian mystic patiently waits on the mountain, even though it may seem uneventful. However, unseen events unfold during this time. The mystic leaves no stone unturned in their preparation leading to newfound ideas, power, and abilities. They are deeply connected to people, places, and movements.
The Christian Mystic Call
Afterward Jesus went up on a MOUNTAIN and called out the ones he wanted to go with him. And they came to him (Mark 3:13 NLT).

Jesus took the 12 disciples up a mountain where they received the call. Similarly, Christian mystics are called to ascend a spiritual mountain to establish a connection with the Holy Spirit and create something new. Christian mystics cannot solve other people's problems, but they can lead by example and inspire others to follow. They do not seek attention for themselves.
Mountains and the Bible
Afterwards Jesus went up the MOUNTAIN and called out the ones he wanted to go with him. And they came to him (Mark 3:13 NLT).

The disciples followed Jesus up a mountain to receive the call.
Then Moses climbed the MOUNTAIN to appear before God... (Exodus 19:3a NLT).

Moses ascends Mount Sinai eight times to be given instruction.

So he got up and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai, the MOUNTAIN of God (I Kings 19:8 NLT).

The Lord met Elijah at Mount Sinai where He presented Elijah with his next mission.

Mountains held great significance for men of the Bible.

1. The journey up the mountain was a central aspect of their faith, requiring obedience.

3. The mountain was seen as a symbol of importance.

4. It was on the mountain that God would speak to them,
